pebble playground i
pebble playground i
in the summer of 2021, on the shores of lake michigan, i stood, hunched over and stuffing beach stones into my pockets. each one wholly distinct. the texture rich, the shapes pretty, like someone had placed them there specifically to delight me. i was saving them. . . apparently for this. i created a sculpture for each of them. a place for them to play, to encourage you to play, to encourage you to take a moment, feel them in your palm, and snuggle them up into their sculpture home. each sculpture is rich with ledges and nooks and spaces to hold them. a playground for a pebble. these are the first two, but like i said, i stuffed my pockets full . . .
unglazed, bone-white stoneware.
approximately 5” tall by 3” wide.
sculpture includes the stone it was made for:)
