LITTLE BOXES COLLECTION- THE BACKSTORY:

vintage treasure hunting is one of my favorite pastimes - that feeling when you make a find- something you’ve never seen before, a one-off, something made by someone you don’t know, at some place you’ve never been. i often walk into estate sales and upon taking in the general scene i feel like it’s a miss, not my style or aesthetic. but if i push past that initial judgement and go exploring i often find something that resonates and, suddenly, i have a little pile of ‘me’ that i’ve plucked from someone else’s life. it’s such a bigger idea to me- that we all overlap somewhere, that we all share something in common. we just have to be willing to dig around a little, pull open some neglected drawers, spend some time in the scary basement. these little boxes were made with these ideas in mind. maybe our styles don’t overlap all the time, but maybe a small part of my style is yours too, maybe just one of my pieces will resonate with you and poof, there it is- the little thread connecting us. and maybe down the road in sixty, eighty, one hundred years, someone will walk into an estate sale and find this piece that i unknowingly made for them so long ago . . .
