about the piece:
i made this piece while thinking about the impact our para social relationships have on our brains. we all follow people that don’t know us and at the same time it seems that we know them. of course we don’t. but sometimes we can’t help but wonder about them. ‘i wonder what ______ is doing right now.’ fill in the blank. for me, i often wonder what Beyoncé is doing right now. because who doesn’t? those were the original words i had sculpted on this piece. but then, as i was looking at it i realized i wanted to be challenging that, asking the viewer to not spend their time dreaming about someone else’s life but wondering about their own. the bad grammar is the result of that flip in my own thinking, now forever set in this piece. a reminder that ultimately, the only impact your wonderings can have are on yourself. so let’s use our precious brain power on ourselves, shall we? the rest is really just a waste of time.
