last place trophy vase
last place trophy vase
this vase started as something much different, but after an unsuccessful trip through the kiln i decided to pivot. so much of my work comes into being through chance and accidents and stuff that just doesn’t turn out. it’s more of a ‘just keep going and let’s see where this goes’ vs. a ‘this is where i’m going’ mindset. i actually love when things break or don’t turn out because it gives me an excuse to tinker and try new things. this vase embodies that whole sentiment. it is made from a mix of ceramic, plaster, and my homemade paper clay. it is the physical accumulation of everything that failed and isn’t that something. and isn’t that what we all are?
