solid cast glass version of my tiered scalloped candleholder by the talented local artist Hannah Bates.

i always thought about translating my candleholders into a different material, but the obvious choice, some kind of metal, just didn’t feel right. then i stumbled onto this idea of glass. i loved the idea that these pieces that feel fun and playful in ceramic could feel at once weighty but ethereal in glass. i had taken an aluminum casting class with Hannah previously  and on a whim decided to reach out to see if she could bring these to life for me and boy did she ever!

although the beginning wax molds came from a singular ceramic piece, each stage of the process required manipulating and refining and thereby produced pieces that are each uniquely their own.
